A studio specializing in geek-oriented quilting projects. (That's not all we do, but it is a part of our lives!). We aim to misbehave in terms of quilting - we believe that anyone can learn, and everyone has their own style. We strive for inclusion, not exclusion. So bring your fandom and your quilting supplies, and hang out!

Randomness, Part Whatever
Yes, the last post was not quilting related. So be it! This quilty blog will also on occasion have a bit of writing, since that's my other passion!
Feel free to skip any entry flagged as writing related, unless it is also quilty.
I am in the process of trying to pimp out a novel to agents, so.... *wheeee*
Ain't it cute?
So what do these two things, writing and quilting, have to do with each other?
Shockingly, a lot.
When I am designing a quilt (because I am bad at doing other people's patterns), I try to tell a story in the design. There must be more than just color and pattern. There must be a plot. A story. The fabric pieces are the words I use and the design is the plot. The quilting pattern is the character(s). Together, they create a story.
And now, for something completely different! #PimpMyBio
Welcome, welcome, welcome!
My name is Shay, and this is my #PimpMyBio entry for 2017 Pitch Wars!
My novel, Choosers, is a 66000 word modern fantasy set in Fort Worth, Texas. But, it is not OUR Fort Worth. This is a world where all the gods that ever were have returned, gathering believers again and forever changing life.
Fort Worth is about to be ground zero in a battle between mortals and gods. Only Noah and Brandon have the courage, knowledge, and willingness to fight that fight, to stand between humanity and the coming of new gods.
They are Choosers, those who have opted not to worship any of the gods, to work to help humanity in a world greatly changed. They are counselors, helping those who are lost among the gods. Now they must be warriors.
Why I am a Good Mentee:
I take criticism with aplomb and common sense. I am not personally insulted if someone has opinions on my writing, or on me in general.
I am flexible, and listen well.
I love to learn new viewpoints
I love to learn, period.
Bio:
I am a writer and story teller. I have been writing novels and short stories for over 20 years, in between teaching and working. Several short stories have been published over the years.
Personally, I am a music-based lifeform. All writing must have music. I think in words, not pictures, and correspondingly have the ability to gross out my visual thinking friends with little to no effect on myself. I do renaissance faires in the spring (as an actor), and teach History to those who are on cast at our faire. I am more than slightly word-obsessed.
